How do you specify a control transformer?

  • VA (burden) rating: total sealed VA plus the inrush of the largest coil
  • Primary voltage (and taps)
  • Secondary voltage (commonly 120 V)
  • Fused or unfused
  • Frequency (50 / 60 Hz) and mounting

How do we quote a control transformer?

  1. Send the VA rating and primary / secondary voltage, or the nameplate off the existing unit.
  2. We confirm taps, fusing, frequency, and mounting.
  4. We quote condition, price, and lead time: new, surplus, or used-tested, timing confirmed with the request.

FAQ

How do I size a control transformer?
Add up the sealed VA of every device on the control circuit, then check the inrush (sealed plus inrush) of the largest coil so the transformer holds voltage when it pulls in. Send your load list or the existing nameplate and we match the VA.
What primary and secondary voltages do you carry?
Common control transformers step 240, 480, or 600 V down to 120 V, often with multiple taps; 24 V and other secondaries are available. Send the primary and secondary you need.
Do you carry obsolete control transformers?
Yes. We source discontinued and surplus control transformers and cross-reference to a current equivalent by VA and voltage. Condition is disclosed before sale.
Are you an authorized distributor?
