What it does

Ross Hill Model 1400 SCR bays are force-cooled. This assembly is the blower that moves that air through the bay and across the modules: a 2 HP, 600 V 3-phase motor driving a fan, mounted to the equipment.

It is easy to treat cooling as ancillary. It is not. A thyristor stack running without airflow will overheat, and the damage lands on the SCR bridge and phase cells rather than on the blower. The blower is the cheap part protecting the expensive ones.

Symptoms that point here

What you are seeingWhat it usually indicates
Over-temperature trips on a bay under loadAirflow: check the blower before the stack
Audible change in the house, or a bay gone quietBlower motor or drive coupling
Blower runs but airflow is poorFan, filters, or ducting rather than the motor
Motor hums and does not startSingle-phasing, supply, or a seized bearing
Repeated SCR failures on one bayInvestigate cooling on that bay specifically
Thermal trips during heavy drilling; bay runs hotCooling before electronics: blower, filters, and airflow paths first

Model 1400 and Model 1500 are not the same equipment

Ross Hill built more than one SCR platform, and parts do not automatically cross between them. The phase cells are a documented example: Model 1400 and Model 1500 cells are explicitly not interchangeable. Cooling-assembly interchangeability is not established; order by the exact model and physical assembly number.

Establish which model you are working on before ordering anything, and send the number from the physical assembly rather than a secondary reference.

Nameplate

We verify the assembly number against the physical unit before quoting and send photos of the unit being offered. If the motor itself is what failed, send the motor nameplate too: voltage, horsepower, frame, and RPM.

What to send us

These are the details that let us identify the right unit instead of guessing at it.

  • The assembly number as it reads on the unit
  • SCR platform: Model 1400, Model 1500, or unknown
  • Motor nameplate details if the motor is the failed item: HP, voltage, frame, RPM
  • Whether you need the complete assembly or a component of it
  • Rig and which bay it serves
  • A photo of the assembly in place if you can take one
  • Quantity and your need-by date

Condition and sourcing

RHCC 0002-1076-62 is quoted only after current availability, condition, and lead time are confirmed. Any offered unit is identified as new-surplus, used-tested, or reconditioned before sale.

If the observed failure does not line up with RHCC 0002-1076-62, use the SCR Drive Fault Finder to narrow the subsystem before requesting a part.

Identification checkpoint

For RHCC 0002-1076-62, confirm motor rating on file: 2 HP, 600 V 3-phase; function: SCR bay and module forced-air cooling; assembly: Model 1400 blower. Use the installed label and complete suffix before treating another item as equivalent.

FAQ

What is the Ross Hill 0002-1076-62?
It is the Model 1400 blower: a 2 HP, 600 V 3-phase motor and fan assembly that provides forced-air cooling to Ross Hill SCR bays and modules.
Why does a blower matter that much?
Because SCR bays are cooled by forced air, and a thyristor stack that loses its cooling does not fail gracefully. Loss of airflow is one of the more expensive faults in an SCR house because of what it takes out with it.
Will a Model 1500 blower fit a Model 1400?
No Model 1400-to-1500 blower interchangeability is established. The two platforms differ in other assemblies, including noninterchangeable phase cells, so match the exact model and blower number. Send the number off your unit.
Can you supply a replacement motor rather than the whole assembly?
Tell us what you actually need and we will tell you what we can source. Send the motor nameplate as well as the assembly number if the motor is the part that failed.
Is it still available?
Not from original production. We source it as new-surplus, used-tested, and reconditioned, with condition disclosed before sale.
