GE Circuit Breaker Cross-Reference

GE's classic industrial molded-case lines — TED / TEB, TEY, the Spectra (SE / SG) electronic-trip series, and the TJ / TJK J-frame — are legacy; GE's industrial breaker business is now part of ABB. The modern path is the current ABB/GE molded-case frames selected by amp and interrupting rating, with Spectra electronic-trip breakers mapping to current electronic-trip frames. For every line, Edmundson Industrial sources new-surplus, used-tested, and reconditioned breakers.

Amp ranges are nominal — the catalog number encodes poles, voltage, amp rating, and interrupting class. Confirm against the nameplate before substituting.

Reading a GE catalog number

GE molded-case numbers start with a frame code (TED, TEB, TEY, TJ, SE…) followed by digits for poles, voltage, and amp rating; Spectra (SE/SG) breakers add an adjustable electronic trip unit, so the trip rating and plug matter as much as the frame. Confirm the trip rating on the breaker and label.

Demand lives on the surplus market

GE industrial numbers like TED134100, SELA36AT0100, TEY3100, and TJK436250 carry low search volume but high buyer intent and active secondary-market liquidity. For obsolete GE breakers, availability is the real demand signal — we win on stock and sourcing, not search traffic.

Drop-in original or retrofit?

A surplus GE original keeps the panelboard or switchboard as-built; a current ABB/GE frame is the long-term path. Spectra electronic-trip retrofits in particular need the trip unit and rating confirmed. When the footprint or trip changes, our fabrication side builds adapter and filler hardware so the replacement fits the legacy opening.

FAQ

Are GE breakers like TED, TEY, and Spectra obsolete?
The classic GE industrial lines (TED / TEB, TEY, Spectra SE / SG, TJ / TJK) are legacy; GE's industrial breaker business is now part of ABB. New-surplus, used-tested, and reconditioned units remain available through Edmundson Industrial.
What replaces a GE TED or Spectra breaker?
Current ABB/GE molded-case frames by amp and interrupting rating; Spectra electronic-trip breakers map to current electronic-trip frames. We also source the originals as surplus.
Can you source SELA36AT0100 or TED134100?
Yes — these are common GE industrial catalog numbers. Send the exact string and we'll quote new-surplus, used-tested, or reconditioned with condition disclosed.
What is a Spectra breaker?
GE's electronic-trip molded-case line (SE / SG / SF frames, for example SELA…). The trip unit is adjustable, so confirm the trip rating and plug on the nameplate.
Will a current frame fit my GE panelboard?
Sometimes; bolt-on and I-Line footprints changed. Our fabrication side builds adapter and filler hardware to fit legacy openings.
