MODUs, jack-ups, and vessels running electrical equipment two decades past its catalog life, a long way from the nearest supply house.
Offshore, the supply problem is geography before it is anything else. A part that is a two-hour drive from a refinery is a boat or a helicopter from a vessel, and the equipment itself is frequently older than what you would find onshore, because replacing it means taking the asset out of service.
A significant part of the older mobile offshore drilling fleet runs the same Ross Hill and NOV SCR control as land rigs — the same AutoSync modules, the same AC and DC control modules, the same bridges and phase cells. That is the deepest branch of this site. If you are working an SCR house on a jack-up or a semi, start at drilling rig electrical or the Ross Hill / NOV cross-reference.
| What went down | What we supply |
|---|---|
| MODU or drillship SCR house fault. Same Ross Hill or NOV gear as a land rig. | SCR house parts, AC modules, DC modules, and power modules |
| Thruster, winch, or crane DC drive down. Regulator or power stack suspected. | SCR and DC drive systems |
| Main or emergency switchboard breaker failed and the frame is long discontinued. | Obsolete breaker cross-reference and circuit breakers |
| Engine room motor control failure — pumps, fans, purifiers, compressors. | Contactors and motor control, starters, and MCC parts |
| Pump or fan drive failed and the model is out of production. | Drives and VFDs |
| Transformer or control power failure on a distribution panel. | Transformers and control transformers |
| Replacement does not fit the original bulkhead cutout or mounting. | Fabricated enclosures, panels, brackets, and adapter plates in steel, aluminum, or stainless |
A vessel or rig off contract offshore is not comparable to a plant outage, because you cannot drive a part out to it and you cannot bring the crew home while you wait. A missed sailing date or a slipped drydock exit moves everything downstream of it, and the logistics of getting the part to the asset are frequently a larger problem than finding the part.
Which is why we would rather tell you on day one that something takes three weeks than tell you on day fifteen.
We do not perform shipboard service, commissioning, or testing, and we do not provide class certification. Same-day applies to stocked items on domestic shipments; export documentation and international freight add time that is outside our control, and we will tell you what that time looks like before you commit.
We are an independent supply and sourcing company, not an authorized distributor. Condition is disclosed before sale on every item we supply — new, new-surplus, used-tested, or reconditioned.
