An SCR house is the electrical heart of a diesel-electric drilling rig. Engine-generator sets feed AC into the house; inside, silicon controlled rectifier bridges convert that AC into variable DC, and assignment switching routes it to the equipment that needs it — drawworks, mud pumps, rotary table. The driller's console commands it, and the control modules regulate it.
Everything else on a mechanical rig can be running perfectly. If the SCR house is down, the rig is down. That is why this equipment gets sourced urgently, and why a house that has sat in a yard for three years is still worth moving across the country.

The Ross Hill Model 1400 and Model 1500 are the two generations most commonly still in service. They are not interchangeable at the component level — phase cells in particular differ between generations, and assuming otherwise is an expensive way to find out.
