The structure, bus, and bays are the expensive, heavy, difficult part of an SCR house. Control boards and modules are comparatively small items. When a house is mechanically and structurally sound and the complaints are all control-side, replacing the whole system is rarely proportionate.
Rebuild tends to make sense when the enclosure is sound, the bays are undamaged, the failures are traceable to boards, modules, contactors, or cooling, and the rig has meaningful remaining life.
Retrofits stall on mechanical fit, not electrical function. A replacement device is available but the footprint changed. A panel needs a different cutout. A modern component needs a mounting plate that does not exist.
That is work we do in house: mounting plates, adapter panels, sub-panels, brackets, modified enclosures, and fabricated assemblies in steel, aluminum, and stainless. We will come back with what we would address, in what order, and what it takes to source — including telling you when the honest answer is that the house is not worth the investment.
