The modules get the attention, but a Ross Hill / NOV SCR drive lives or dies on the parts around them: the contactors that switch power, the blowers that cool the bay, and the meters and instrumentation the driller reads. DC contactors in the bay
The contactors are the parts that wear. They make and break the DC feed to the drilling motors and handle drive assignment: connecting a bay to the drawworks, a mud pump, or the rotary table. Switching high DC current is harder than switching AC because there is no natural current zero to help quench the arc, so these are heavy purpose-built devices and contact erosion is their normal end of life.
Two things cause most of the ordering mistakes on this equipment: the coil voltage hidden in a suffix, and the fact that two different manufacturers' contactors carry the same headline rating.

Why is cooling part of the bay?
SCR bays are force-cooled, and a stack that loses airflow does not fail gracefully: the damage lands on the bridge and phase cells rather than on the fan. If you are seeing over-temperature trips on one bay, check the blower before the stack. The Model 1400 blower is 0002-1076-62, a 2 HP 600 V 3-phase assembly.
